Ayurveda – "The Science of Life" is a holistic health system that originated 5000 years ago on the Indian subcontinent. By 1976 the World Health Organization (WHO) officially recognized Ayurveda as a Traditional Medicine System. In Europe it Ayurveda has been practiced successfully for decades and is continuously being developed. More and more people are getting convinced by its remarkable healing stories. Ayurvedic teachings do not focus primarily on curing diseases but rather on the complex existence of the human being unifying body, soul and spirit. A healthy person is not only classified by the absence of illness but by the presence of spiritual, emotional and physical harmony and vitality. This unique and integrated approach towards a holistic health concept of the individual is at the core of Ayurveda. In the Western World this challenge is regaining importance as more and more people search for meaning, look for ways to deal with stress and struggle with chronic disease. Ayurveda encompasses an amazing range of individual preventive, nutritional and treatment methods to create balance in body, mind and spirit. To this end it offers a nutrition concept specific to the respective individual constitution (VATA, PITTA, KAPHA), physical exercise, meditation, Yoga and other relaxation techniques as well as balancing nutrition and dietary supplements. |
